The Opening Ceremony for the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) was conducted by the Local Government through the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, with the theme βUnited for a VAW-Free Philippines, #VAWFREEPH,β on November 25, 2025, at the Panabo Multi-Purpose Gym.
The celebration commenced with a motorcade, followed by the Songs and Yells Contest participated in by students from various schools across the city.
Executive Secretary Jo-anne Gentiles Relampagos, representing City Mayor Jose E. Relampagos, delivered a message emphasizing, βThrough unity and cooperation, we can end violence against women.β
Panabo National High School emerged as the champion for Category A, while Davao del Norte College claimed the championship for Category B.
In her closing remarks, OIC-GAD/Acting City Civil Registrar Libertad V. Regis, MPA, provided an overview of what Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) entails and underscored the importance of educating the public on this matter.
Present during the event were department heads, section heads, personnel from the GAD Office, and various representatives from selected schools and organizations in the city.
The 18-Day Campaign is observed from November 25 to December 12, featuring various programs and activities aimed at combating VAW.
