October 21, 2025 – The Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2025 has officially commenced at Panabo Central Elementary School with the theme, “Reporting for a Better Philippines: Navigating Politics, Culture, and Key Issues.”

The DSPC is a prestigious competition participated in by student journalists from both elementary and secondary schools under the Department of Education, Panabo City Division.

This event serves as a platform to showcase the talents and skills of students through various contests, such as News Writing, Photojournalism, Science and Technology Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Sports Writing, Copy Editing, Mobile Journalism, Editorial Cartooning, Column Writing, and Collaborative Desktop Publishing.

PTV Davao del Norte Journalist Caren Jane De Vera, who served as the keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of media literacy and encouraged participants with her words: “Be the solution, not the problem.”

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Jinky Firman, CESO VI also delivered an inspiring message urging students to write with integrity and fairness. She formally declared the opening of DSPC 2025, describing it as a valuable opportunity for the youth to exhibit their talent in journalism.

The conference will run from October 21 to 25, 2025, and winners of DSPC 2025 are expected to represent Panabo City in the upcoming Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2025.

Health and safety protocols are being strictly implemented during the event, especially in light of recent aftershocks experienced in the city due to a recent earthquake.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Basilio P. Mana-ay Jr., CESO VI also graced the occasion, along with teachers from various schools, student participants, guests, and other stakeholders.
