In celebration of Press Freedom 2026, a Media Summit was held for the City of Panabo’s media partners at the AIE Experience Center in Barangay San Pedro, Panabo City.

The activity provided participants with additional knowledge on Republic Act No. 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act, and Republic Act No. 7877, or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995. The discussion was led by Atty. Ruby Alyssa S. Cabello of the City Legal Office.

The discussion was particularly relevant to media practitioners, who play an important role in providing information to the public and reporting issues related to harassment, gender-based violence, and the protection of individual rights.

Also present was Philippine News Agency (PNA) Davao Bureau Chief Che D. Palicte, who led a discussion on “Responsible Media Journalism in the Digital Age.” She emphasized the importance of responsible journalism, particularly the need to verify information and avoid misinformation and disinformation. She also highlighted the role of media practitioners in providing accurate, balanced, and reliable information to the public.

On the same day, the first episode of Coffee and Progress, a program of Damosa Land in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Panabo, was also held. The program aims to provide a venue for discussions on various topics concerning the city’s development and progress.
