ALVEO Ironman 70.3-Panabo Leg Update| Australian biker lost race due to flat tire, thanks panaboans for cheering him on
Ironman 70.3 Participant Matt Louise from Australia was devastated when he experienced a flat tire en route to Davao City. Matt is one of 2,100 participants of the triathlon. He was seen walking with his bike along the National Highway of Panabo.
When asked about how he felt, Matt replied “it was out of my control and I left everyone down… it was devastating”. He was secured inside the Panabo City Incident Command Post at the Parks and Plaza while waiting for the Ironman official sweepers to take him back to Davao City.
As his first time in the Philippines, Ironman 70.3 Davao is his fourth professional race. Despite the situation, he thanked Filipinos and panaboans for cheering him. “Everyone was so supportive and even took selfies with me,” he added.
Matt expressed that he would return for the 3rd Ironman 70.3 DAVAO Triathlon in 2020.
