The Council of Women of Panabo City gathered at the ARF gym on March 8, 2019 to celebrate National Women’s Day with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”. The celebration, initiated by Mayor James G Gamao, started with a thanksgiving mass followed by a short program recognizing the vital role of women in the society, and a symposium in the afternoon with guest speaker Rochelle Rabat del Rosario, a Human Resource Specialist. She highlighted in her speech that women have influence in guiding people in choosing a leader.

Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 of every year in honor of their remarkable contribution to our society and commemorates the inspiring role of women around the world, secure women’s rights and build more equitable societies. Moreover, the whole month of March is celebrated as National Women’s Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 227, signed by then President Corazon C. Aquino.

In Panabo City, there is a law aiming to protect women, which is the Women and Children’s Code authored by Councilor Gregorio U. Dujali III. Meanwhile, DepEd Schools Division Supervisor Dr. Dee Silva CESO VI, challenged the women to do well starting in their homes for the betterment of the community. This includes maintaining order and cleanliness that will be carried by the members of their household outside the community.

In line with the 2019 Women’s Month Celebration, there will be a 2nd City Wide Summit at RJ3 Travelers Dine, Gredu Panabo City on March 19 from 8:00am-5:00pm.
