Women from different sectors in Panabo gathered on March 19 for the 2nd Women’s Summit in the city.
The city-wide summit highlighted the status of women in Panabo based on the accomplishments, initiatives, and strategies implemented by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office and partner offices of the city government.
According to GAD Focal Point System Chairperson, Engr. Judith G. Lee, the city spent P1.7million from the 5% mandatory GAD budget for the implementation of programs and services intended for the involvement and development of women in the city.
This includes capacity development programs for the VAWC (Violence Against Women and their Children) desk officers, programs and services in health, education, social welfare and protection, and labor and employment.
Engr. Lee emphasized that 49.2% or 94,075 of the total population of Panabo City is composed of women. Thus, she committed that the city government will continue to initiate and implement programs that will make women in Panabo City empowered and self-reliant.
