DOLE Davao del Norte Field Office awarded Panabo PESO for the National Best PESO Hall of Fame for the Component City Category during the Monday Convocation Program sponsored by City Accountant’s Office on November 12, at Panabo City Hall Lobby. The actual ceremony was attended by PESO manager Cherelle Espinosa during the 18th National PESO Congress held last October 25-27 at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City

COASTAL ENVIRONMENT CASES IN PANABO, REESTABLISHED

CENRO spearheads a 2-Day Orientation on the Philippine Environment Laws, Rules of Procedures for Coastal Environmental Cases.

Atty Alstair Comighod, Assistant Legal Officer, began with an Overview of the Philippine Coastal Environmental Laws. On the other hand, Forester Olympio Bagnol, MPA, of CENRO coordinated the activity with resource speakers from DENR and BFAR regional offices.
The activity aims to provide legal foundation for any action directed towards the protection of the coastal environment and to strengthen the enforcement of environmental laws. Among the participants are from:

2. Coastal Community Leaders and Barangay Officials
3. PNP Maritime
4. Philippine Coastguard
5. CENRO
6. City Agriculture

THE RESPONDER'S CHALLENGE

Panabo City Hall Government Employees Association (PCHGEA) in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), City Health Office and Office of Mayor James Gamao conducts PCHGEA Responder’s Challenge 2018.

The Responder’s Challenge is one of the activities of the PCHGEA SporTalento, a yearly sportsfest and talent competition of LGU-Panabo Employees. The challenge is a race that tests capability of disaster employee responders trained by the LGU-Panabo.
PCHGEA President Mel Jun “Gagi” Badal expressed his gratitude to the LGU Management for the successful conduct of the activity that was first time incorporated in this year’s SporTalento. He added that this activity will greatly help the employees to be ready to react in case of disasters and emergencies in the workplace and their homes.

MOST RESILIENT COMPONENT CITY IN REGION XI

What a #PanaboPanalo Day! Panabo named MOST RESILIENT COMPONENT CITY in the Region.

The Regional Competitiveness Committee awarded the City of Panabo with two recognitions: 1st Place Most Competitive Component City in the Resiliency Pillar and 2nd Place Overall Most Competitive Component City in the Region. The program took place in the morning of November 7, 2018 at the Pinnacle Hotel.
Mayor James G Gamao and Vice Mayor Janrey G Gavina received the awards in behalf of the City of Panabo. They were accompanied by the City’s LDRRM Officer Prosper Dajalos, Investment Officer/Assistant Department Head Jan Mari Cafe, Information Officer Michael Angelo Resueño and DTI-DavNor Director Romeo Castañaga.
The 2018 Regional Competitiveness Awards is on its second year; recognizing the LGUs in the Davao Region who bested the four pillars as indicated by the National Competitiveness Council namely Infrastructure, Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, and Resiliency. It is a joint program with the DILG and DTI regional offices.
Gamao congratulated the Local DRRM for their efforts in advocating disaster resiliency along with the partner offices who have shared their time and skills in keeping Panabo safe for Panaboans and investors. He continued thanking other departments for working closely to achieve an economic friendly city.
As Resiliency became the highlight of the city’s win, Dajalos recognized the joint efforts of his team and the Local and national offices for attaining the feat.
Davao Del Norte was also recognized as the Most Competitive Province in the Region. The province’s success has been under the leadership of DavNor Governor Anthony Del Rosario who always stood with the slogan, #BastaDavNortheBest.
In the national rankings, the City of Panabo placed 18th Most Resilient among 112 component cities while climbing to 8th rank in Infrastructure. Over all, the city ranked 31st most competitive component city for 2018 which is five steps higher than last year.
In 2017, the City of Panabo was recognized 5th Most Improved Component City in the country due to its leap from 68th to 36th in the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).
