PDEA XI declares two more barangays in Panabo City as ”Drug-Cleared”
PDEA XI Regional Director Antonio Rivera declares Brgy. Quezon and Brgy. Consolacion (Panabo City) as Drug-Cleared Barangays.
“I am happy with the accomplishment of the two barangays and I challenge the barangay officials to maintain the ‘drug-cleared’ status,” said Mayor James Gamao. Gamao urged the officials to be always vigilant and to maintain the multi-sectoral approach in fighting illegal drugs in their barangay.
Witnessing the declaration are PDEA Provincial Officer Clodito Cañada, Panabo PNP Chief Rimas Lambert, DILG-CLGOO Danilo Hernandez, Lt. Col. Julius Borja of PNP DavNor Provincial Office, DOH XI representative Rebecca Dollete, CHO Head Dr. Algae Rose Sumaoang-Hechanova, Executive Secretary Engr. Judith Lee and CADAC Action Officer Roqueos Cimafranca.
Kap. Pablito Tocmo and Kap. Basanio Tuling, Jr., barangay captains of Consolacion and Quezon, respectively, together with their barangay officials received certificates from PDEA recognizing their successful conduct of drug-clearing programs.
An oversight committee that is composed of representatives from PDEA, DOH, PNP, DILG and the LGU determines if a barangay is ‘drug-cleared’ based on the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 3, Series of 2017. The regulation provides these parameters: non-availability of drug supply, absence of drug pusher/user/ dependents, absence of clandestine laboratory /drug warehouse / drug den, absence of drug protector / financier, involvement of barangay officials and SK in anti-drug activities, existence of voluntary and compulsory drug treatment and rehabilitation desk, among others.
Last 2017 and 2018, Barangays Southern Davao, Waterfall, New Malitbog and Maduao were also cleared totalling to six (6) drug-cleared barangays in the city.
